From Bralorne with Love…

New Years at Bralorne has been an annual tradition for the past few years, for those who don’t know Bralorne is a small ex-mining town with a current population of 36 north of Pemberton. It was a flourishing community of over 3000 back in the early 1900’s when there was still gold to be had in the mines. Now that it has run dry it houses mostly avid Sledders, Bikers, or those who seek to escape into nature. In the winter it is accessible by snowmobile over the Hurley Forestry Service Road, which is 56km long or by road through Lilooet, which takes over 4+ hours from Whistler. The normal Hurley crossing time is an hour plus, give or take depending on how many beer stops one takes. This year I managed to convince a good number of my girlfriends to come along for the adventure last minute. After begging, borrowing and proliferating some extra snowmobiles we were ready to go.

Or mostly ready, some last minute instalations and fixes and we were off.

En route..

Time for a pit stop, Bralorne style.

90lbs of Sasha on 600lbs of sled. Git’r done.

A BIG thankyou to Heather Roberts for allowing this many miscreants in her house while she was MIA working, also a big thank you to Kate for having enough forethought to bring cheese to go with all the wine. Pure genius.

Way cooler than a scooter gang.

Kasie getting rad.

Bralorne ran out of gas, so we had to find someone to open up the gas station in Goldbridge.

The first of many obstacles on the ride home…

Problem solving, Bralorne style. 7 hours later…

After snapping both brackets off the tunnel, Sasha went into a ditch, and Dirt ran out of gas on the way down, then both Paul and Dirt got stuck their trucks stuck in the upper parking lot, I realized how thankful I am for such awesome patient friends. It takes a lot to be able to laugh when things go that awry. When in doubt, it would seem Crown solves everything. Take THAT sled!

And we came back to this pretty sight, more fluffy gloriousness!

All in all, another amazing New Years in Bralorne with amazing friends!
